What kinds of trees are planted in Peru?

'Pino chuncho'

'Cedro Rosado'

Together with our partners PUR Projet, we are reforesting part of the Amazon which covers the San Martin region in Peru. An integral part of their project is working with cocoa farming cooperatives to restore the whole agroforestry system on which the local communities depend on, and which were destroyed and exploited in the hands of drug traffickers in the 80s and 90s. Some of the species that are we plant there include, but are not limited to:

  • Colubrina glandulosa
  • Schizoloblum amazonicum
  • Acrocarpus fraxinifolius
  • Guazuma crinita
  • Calycophyllum spruceanum
  • Vitex pseudolea
  • Cedrelinga catenaefor mis

By restoring and protecting this part of the Amazon, the local communities can once more build a livelihood from the forest, this time in a sustainable and ecological way. Check out our blog for more information on our project in Peru.
