Eden Reforestation Projects, on the coasts of Madagascar, is one of the world’s most cost effective and prolific tree planting programs. The organization empowers hundreds of Madagascans by employing local villagers and training them how to plant the trees that will once again provide for their communities. The ecological impact of the reforestation projects is huge; the mangrove trees that are planted along the coast are very efficient at absorbing carbon dioxide and create the ideal breeding grounds for the fish that are so important for the biodiverse region. The Eden planters are currently planting more than 16 million trees a year and with the help of Ecosia, they will be able to plant many more and continue to radically improve the lives of the Madagascan people.
